REFUGIO – Refugio County Judge Rene Mascorro, on Thursday, May 22, said he is reviewing several ordinances that regulate game rooms.

“I’m in the final stages,” he said. He added he is looking at other counties’ ordinances.

In reviewing the ordinances, Mascorro said he is checking them to see if they would work in Refugio County, to see the relevance to Refugio County and the manpower that would be needed to enforce the ordinance.

Mascorro said he would be calling a meeting with the ordinance committee that was formed in late February.

Initially, the committee was supposed to have a meeting in March.

So far, he has not called the committee members.

That committee includes Veronica Koenig, Karen Clark, Margaret Babb and Pat Torres, as well as Mascorro.

Mascorro said as soon as the committee settles on the details of a Refugio County ordinance, he would bring it back to the commissioners court for discussion and approval.
