CORPUS CHRISTI – Refugio County had a significant presence at this year’s Shriner’s Coastal Bend All-Star football game held this past Saturday at Buccaneer Stadium.

Coach Wade Miller and his staff were chosen to direct the East team.

Woodsboro players Justin Fierova, Jonathan Flores and Lionel Brown joined their coaches.

Refugio players J.B. Brown, Jim LaFond, Dana Franklin, and Alex Coronado also were selected to play for the East team.

“This was an awesome experience for me and all of the kids,” said a jubilated Coach Miller.

“All of our county’s kids did a great job competing with the 4A and 5A kids. You could not tell the difference out there. Woodsboro and Refugio should be very proud of the way our kids represented us out here tonight.”

Coach Miller and his staff were chosen by the Coastal Bend Coaches Association.

“It is a great honor to be here coaching all of these great young athletes,” Coach Miller added.

“Coach Herring (Jason) was with us at halftime and gave our kids a really great talk,” he said.

“All of our kids were key contributors in our 24-10 win. Thanks to everyone that came out to Corpus Christi to support all of our county kids.”
