Celia “Sally” Falcon Soliz, 99, of Refugio, formerly of Corpus Christi, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014.

Mrs. Soliz was born April 14, 1914, in Skidmore to Bias Maria de Ia Garza Falcon and Maria Luisa Reyes Falcon

She was a direct descendent of the recognized first Texas colonizer of the same name as her father, and she married Raul Soliz on Nov. 15, 1934, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Skidmore. She attended schools of beauty culture and established her own business of hair fashion and makeup design. She was a seamstress and created unique, personalized wedding gowns and bridal ensembles. She also created and baked wedding cakes and had her own line of self-made bead jewelry.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raul Elizondo Soliz; her daughters, Mary Esther Nagle, Sylvia “Nena” Arenas and Palmira Elvida “Baby” Fierova; and grandsons, Daniel and Raul “Rally” Nagle and Roland Arenas.

Survivors include her sons-in-law, Michael Nagle and MSgt. Tomas Fierova; brothers, Joe Elisardo Falcon of Leonard, Mich., and O. Reeys Falcon of Skidmore; sisters, Palmira “Pam” Doubrava of Skidmore and Frances Hernandez of Oklahoma City, Okla.; grandchildren, Michael Nagle, Della Nagle, Nora Nagle, Natalie Arenas, Raul “Buddy” Arenas, Sylvia Fierova, Sally Fierova and Antonio “Tony” Fierova; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation was held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at Resthaven Funeral Chapel. A rosary was recited at 6 p.m.

The funeral Mass was celebrated at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Skidmore at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore.

Pallbearers were MSgt. Tomas Fierova, Don Oyler, Michael Tinsley, Raul “Buddy” Arenas, Ysraei “Rudy” Salinas and Cesario Falcon.

Arrangements were under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Chapel, Sinton.
