Marian Ethel Coster Smith Conn, 97, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013.

Mrs. Conn was born Sept. 30, 1916, to Sadie Josephine Thompson and Walter Henry Coster in Maricopa, Calif. She learned to play the piano at Dr. Dodson’s house and went on to be a lifelong pianist for various churches. She was an active member of Faith United in Woodsboro, taught Sunday school, was active in the Ladies Guild and was a Worthy Matron of the Woodsboro Order of the Eastern Star.

She was married to Walter Edward Smith Jr. for 28 years. Following his death, she was married to James Walter Conn III for 22 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her first and second husbands.

Survivors include her son, Walter Kent Smith; two stepchildren, James Walter (Martha) Conn III and Kaye del Barrio; two grandchildren, Mark Walter Smith Sharpe and Melody Ann Smith Sharpe Baird; seven step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at Faith Untied Church in Woodsboro.
