REFUGIO – Daniel Franco “Pando” Tellez, 60, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014.

Mr. Tellez was born March 30, 1953, in Corpus Christi. He was a long-time employee of Naylor Oil Co. in Refugio and later worked with the Robert J. Hewitt Ranch and Town of Refugio.

He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Matias and Margarita Tellez; biological mother, Carolina Villarreal; sisters, Sophia Perez, Elvira Tellez and Lupe Lee; and brothers, Richard and Ramiro Tellez.

Survivors include his wife, Trene Tellez; children, Christie (Rene) Mascorro, all of Refugio; and grandchildren, Christian and Isabella Mascorro; biological father, Ventura Lopez of Corpus Christi; and nephews, Gene Lee of Refugio and P.J. Lee of Corpus Christi.

A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, at Moore Funeral Home in Refugio.

The funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church with interment following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dewey Bellows, Dale Turner, Ramiro Rocha Jr., Ray Quintanilla, Robert Cuellar and Lawrence Rivas.

Honorary pallbearers were Lorenzo Rangel, Richard Garcia, Ben Cuellar, David Perez, Ricardo Perez, Raul Hernandez, Billy Perez, Chris Niemann, Rene Mascorro, Christian Mascorro and Isabella Mascorro.
