BEEVILLE – Fusion Music Fest returns Saturday, July 13, with a new group of bands and a batch of singers to compete in this year’s Bee ’N Idol competition.

Every year, the event gets bigger and bigger, drawing crowds from all over South Texas. This year’s events will kick-off with Mickey and Minnie Mouse making an appearance to interact with the young ones and take photos.

Then, finalists will hit the stage and compete for the title of Bee ’N Idol champ.

For this year’s competition there are 15 finalists competing for the top prize of a three-song recording session, a guest performance on the Domingo Live! TV show as well as a trophy for first, second and third place.

The competition was opened up to all the local counties as well as Bee County. So now, there are singers from all over, which caused Robert Cisneros, the event’s founder, to grow the finalists from 10 contestants to 15 to accommodate the surge in popularity.

“We got a lot of singers from Karnes City, Refugio and Orange Grove, but the majority were from here,” Cisneros, said in a previous interview.

“We had a great turnout – the most we’ve ever had, so I figured we’d open it up to 15 finalists instead of just 10.”

This year, the Fusion Music Fest will feature local country musician Robert Perez, local Tejano group Grupo Fusion, and San Antonio teen rock band Elora & Gasoline.

The night will be brought to a close by the J. Lopez Y La Yllusion who are described by Cisneros as a “high energy and very entertaining band from Corpus Christi that is sure to wow the crowd.”

One of the key features of this yearly summer festival is that it’s completely free for any and all music lovers. The event is also B.Y.O.B. so make sure you pack those coolers before heading out.
