BEEVILLE – The Coastal Bend Crime Stoppers organization is hoping to get an idea of how many organizations and businesses will participate in this year’s National Night Out event on Oct. 1.

Although much of the nation observes the anti-crime event during the summer, organizations in Texas often have their National Night Out events in the fall when the weather is cooler.

Again this year, the Bee County Sheriff’s Office and Beeville Police Department will be joining with Crime Stoppers in hosting the event.

Judy Ranalli of Coastal Bend Crime Stoppers said somewhere between 1,000 and 1,500 local residents appeared on the north lawn of the Bee County Courthouse to observe the annual event.

The 100 block of West Corpus Christi Street usually is closed during the National Night Out.

Any business or organization which would like to have a table or display set up this year should go online to to sign up for the event.

There is a contact sheet on the website for interested parties to register their expected participation.

Many organizations and businesses take part in the National Night Out each year ,and Crime Stoppers expects a repeat of that this year.
