KARNES COUNTY – June has been a busy month for Karnes County deputies working in the special operations-narcotics unit.

One ounce of marijuana and two packets of synthetic marijuana were seized at 9 p.m. during a June 7 traffic stop in the 600 block of N. Esplanade in Karnes City. The driver was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana under two ounces.

More than two grams of crack cocaine, marijuana, digital scales, $414 in cash and baggies used to package narcotics were seized at 1:35 a.m. during a June 8 traffic stop at the Escondido RV Resort in Kenedy. The driver was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana under two ounces and manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance.

On June 8 at about 6 p.m. deputies noticed suspicious activity on State Highway 80 near Gillett. A man wanted on a warrant ran from deputies but was caught and taken into custody. Deputies saw a pickup that had been stripped. The pickup had been reported stolen. The pickup was recovered along with other items.

A crack pipe containing crack cocaine was seized at 2 a.m. during a June 10 traffic stop on U.S Hwy 181 between Karnes City and Kenedy. Two people were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. One person was wanted on a felony warrant for aggravated assault family violence. The driver was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia for a crack pipe near his seat.

On June 14 at about 11 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of South Helena in Runge. Noticing the smell of narcotics, the deputy searched the vehicle and found six grams of synthetic marijuana known as “Kush” concealed in a woman’s bra after she admitted having it in her possession. The woman was detained and questioned and a warrant is being obtained charging her with possession of a controlled substance.

On June 27 deputies received information about possible drug activity at the Best Western Hotel in Kenedy. Deputies and Kenedy police investigated and a search of a hotel room revealed 25.94 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a handgun, digital scale, baggies, pills and $1,190 in cash. A 41-year-old woman was arrested and charged with manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of dangerous drugs. The woman had outstanding warrants for probation violation with original charge of possession of dangerous drugs.

On June 27 about 10 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop at the 200 block of Escondido in Kenedy. A female in the vehicle who was wanted on warrants, admitted to possessing ICE (Methamphetamine). Deputies found a baggie of ICE in her pocket. She was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
