The Karnes County Drug Free Coalition hosted their Annual Drug Free Youth Rally last Saturday. The event was a free fun day for kids around the county. The kids participated in a cake walk, dance contest, bubble gum contest, limbo contest and a three on three basketball tournament. They really enjoyed getting hosed down by our local fire department throughout the day. Sherriff Dewayne Villanueva gave an awareness speech to the kids and their parents on drug use. He also let the crowd know that anyone can anonymously call Crime Stoppers in Karnes County to report a crime at 830-780-4636. A special thanks goes to Wood Group Duval for donating lunch, drinks and snacks for the event and also to everyone who donated door prize items for the raffle. Thanks to each person who helped volunteer during the event. It wouldn’t have been a success without the extra help. Let’s all continue to work together to keep the Karnes County community safe and drug free.
