SKIDMORE – Seven members of the Skidmore-Tynan FFA Chapter attended the Area X FFA Leadership Conference. The conference was held June 21-23 at Camp Zephyr in Lagarto.

The three-day conference was hosted by the Area X FFA officers. During the conference, members participated in various sessions and workshops. The session topics included: Leadership Skills, Personal Goal Setting, Self Esteem, Public Speaking, Community Service and FFA member recruitment. The S-T FFA members who attended were Sarah Colle, Rebekah Colle, Joshua Rodriguez, Misty Martin, Whitley Rix, Trenton Dragon and Abby Hinds.

The Skidmore-Tynan FFA also had 31 members attend the Gateway District FFA convention in George West on April 15. Member Trenton Dragon was elected 2013-2014 district secretary. As a district officer, Trenton and the officer team are responsible for spearheading district activities such as the district leadership conference and convention.

Sadie Gibson placed 3rd in Prepared Public Speaking at the conference in George West; Valde Ramirez represented well in the Extemporaneous Public Speaking; and Montana Cox sang her heart out in the Talent competition.

FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education, officials said.
