Mrs. Linney was born on a Friday, Jan. 18, 1924, in Waco to Floyd and Esther Patty. She was Refugio City Secretary for 42 years, worked for the Refugio Police Department for eight years and was the president of the Oakwood Cemetery Association for many years. She also was a active member of The Trinity Lutheran Church of Refugio, Treasurer of the Good Samaritan Center and was instrumental in establishing the Williamson Senior Center, where she also held many offices within the organization.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Floyd Linney.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn (Melvin) Emmons of Rosenberg and Janis (Quatie) Wolfshohl of Giddings; two sons, Bobby (Dawn) Linney of Sarco and David Linney of Refugio; grandchildren, Jason Emmons, Jamie Linney, Kevin Wolfshohl, Farrah Drury, Keith Wolfshohl, Kyle Wolfshohl; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at Moore Funeral Home Chapel.
The funeral service was conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, at Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery in Refugio.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Good Samaritan or to Trinity Lutheran Church of Refugio.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Jason Emmons, Rich Drury, Jamie Linney, Kevin Wolfshohl, Keith Wolfshohl and Kyle Wolfshohl.
Honorary pallbearers were her granddaughters, Farrah Drury and Lisa Wolfshohl.
