Goliad High School advanced to the UIL academic state meet after taking first place at the district level and regional level in the calculator applications contest.

At the district meet, the calculator team swept the competition with first place going to Heather Villarreal, second going to Katie Alex, third going to Alysann Mendoza and fourth going to April Alex.

The students advanced to the regional competition where Villarreal placed third, Katie Alex placed fifth, Mendoza placed seventh and April Alex placed 16th out of a field of 33.

GHS took first place at regional and advanced to the state meet for the second year in a row.

At the state meet, the team received fourth place. Villarreal took seventh and Katie Alex placed 10th out a field of 33 contestants.

Evan Fleming also advanced to state as a number sense contestant and took fourth. Fleming took second at the regional meet.

Fleming, Anthony Maldonado, Mendoza, and Sandeep Bhakta teamed to take second place at the regional meet. The team won the district title, but fell short at the regional competition by two questions to advance to state as a team.
