Mr. Powers was born Aug. 4, 1937, to Loren and Retta Powers.
Cotton was married to his wife for 38 years, served in the U.S. Air Force and retired with United Gas Pipeline/Koch. He also worked for Sam’s Club, and then in Woodsboro at the landfill until his cancer forced him into his final retirement.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sons James Curtis and Jason Wayne Powers, sister Betty Powers and two brothers, Marion and Donald Powers.
Survivors include wife Kathy; two daughters, Stacy (Javier) Duran and Katlyn Powers of San Antonio; son Garrett (Lindsey) Powers of Clarksville, Tenn.; brother Edward Powers of Hennessey, Okla.; two grandsons, Jaysen Coy Powers of Clarksville Tenn., and Andy Zander Flores of San Antonio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at Moore Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services were celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the First Baptist Church in Refugio.
Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Bill Miller, Johnny O’ Donnell, Johnny O’Donnell III, Dean O’Donnell, Jay Dean Baugh and Anthony Baugh. Honorary pallbearers are Garrett Wayne Powers and Javier Duran.
