AUSTIN – The University of Texas’ Michael Myers Stadium hosted the best high school track and field athletes on May 10-11 in the annual state meet, and Pettus Lady Eagle Anna Elder was one of the competitors in Class 2A.

Elder ran the tough 400-meter dash and placed sixth in the competition against the best runners in the state.

Elder is just a sophomore and will be looking to make a couple of more trips back to Austin in her junior and senior years as a Lady Eagle.

Elder just missed qualifying for the state meet in three other events as she placed third in the long jump, triple jump and 200-meter dash at the Region IV meet in Converse. Only the top two finishers at region advance to the state competition.
