Annie was born on July 19, 1920 to Bernard and Pelagia (Felux) Skloss along with her twin sister Magdalen at her childhood home near Kosciusko, Texas, as the youngest of five children. She attended school in Kosciusko and worked the family farm helping her parents. She briefly worked in Stockdale and Floresville as a housekeeper and childcare worker before marrying the love of her life, Peter Wiatrek. They married on February 20, 1946 and settled in Gillett, where they raised six children instilling upon them their Polish, Catholic ways.
Annie was a devout member of the Nativity of the Blessed Catholic in Cestohowa, Texas. Her family and her faith were most important to her. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting, dancing, and tending livestock. Each of her children and grandchildren benefitted from her quilting handiwork.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Pelagia Skloss, her husband Peter Wiatrek, her beloved son Peter Jr., and siblings Edmund Skloss, Regina Jendrusch, Martina Pruski, and Magdalen Scheffler.
Survivors include: son, Ernest Wiatrek and wife Liz, of Albemarle, North Carolina; daughters Evelyn Sherrod and husband Don, of San Antonio, Gladys Fuller and husband Bill, of San Antonio, Louise Wiatrek of Gillett, and Lori Cole and husband Robert, of The Woodlands, Texas. Her legacy also includes eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation began at 5:00 PM on April 26 with a rosary at 7:30 PM in Panna Maria, Texas. A funeral mass was held at 10:00 AM at Panna Maria Catholic Church, followed by interment in the Cestohowa cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Zimmerhanzel, Craig Zinsmeyer, Robert Cole, Aaron Cole, Bill Fuller, and Peter Scheffler, Jr. Funeral services were entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Home of Karnes City, Texas
