The roadway was covered in diesel and engine fluids following a fiery head-on collision Thursday morning. The fully loaded trailer was allowed to burn so it could be cut up and removed from the roadway.
The crew of Allan's Wrecker Service in Victoria were on the scene for more than 12 hours, cutting up the remains of the trailer to remove it from the roadway.
The fully loaded tractor trailer was allowed to burn to lighten the load so it could be cut up and hauled away. The roadway was closed for just under eight hours.

In what Trooper Andrew Smith called nothing less than a miracle, two Victoria men, driver Jared Adamson and passenger Ronald Higgins walked away from the accident.

The driver of the Performance Food Service semi-truck ran head-on into a Ford Expedition traveling in the wrong lane of traffic with no headlights on at 3:15 a.m. The collision caused the truck to flip and burst into flames.

“By the grace of God, they survived,” Smith said. “Normally, there is only one driver sent on a delivery but this morning, they had two.”
Jared Adamson, 34, and Ronald Higgins, 35, both of Victoria, and Zachary Edwards, 30, of Refugio suffered no serious injuries.
The two Victoria men, employees of Performance Food Service, were traveling north on Farm-to-Market 2678 in a long curve just south of the Fennessey Ranch. Adamson, driver of the food service truck, met Edwards, driver of the Ford Expedition, traveling south in the northbound lane without any headlights on, according to the trooper.
The head-on collision caused the food service truck to flip and burst into flames, with the driver pinned in the vehicle and unable to release his seat belt.
“The passenger was able to lift him up enough so he could undo his seat belt,” Smith said.
Edwards was taken to Refugio Memorial Hospital before being arrested for driving while intoxicated.
The roadway was closed to all traffic until just before noon when the road was opened to one lane.

Allan’s Wrecker Service out of Victoria was on the scene from 4 a.m. unto 10 p.m. removing the debris.
