Three men and a juvenile were taken into custody and accused of breaking into a home on West Heard Street, assaulting the resident and leaving the place in shambles on June 19.

Oscar Esquivel Jr., John Moody and Noe A. Esquivel Jr. were arrested for burglary, assault causing serious bodily injury and engaging in organized crime. A 16-year-old was turned over to juvenile authorities and one man is still at large.

Authorities with the Refugio Police Department reported the men and juvenile broke into the home, confronted Rudy Rodriguez and Rita Vasquez and engaged in a fight with Rodriguez.

Officer Dino Farrow, Sgt. Enrique Diaz and Deputy Shelly Haertig were dispatched.

“Organized crime is determined by the number of people engaged in illegal activity,” said Chief Andy Lopez Jr. “In this case, there were five, one that was not identified when the officers arrived.”
