Sheriff Robert Bolcik reported 2,160 calls went through dispatch from April 4 to April 11.

The sheriff’s department responded to 53calls; the Refugio Police Department, 32; state troopers three; Woodsboro Marshal, four; medics, 13; animal control, seven; Woodsboro VFD, one.

Vehicle/Pedestrian Accident

One female subject was taken to the Refugio Memorial Hospital on April 7 around 8:51 p.m. after dispatch received several 911 calls in reference to an accident across from HEB near the Pizza Hut trailer. The callers advised that someone had been hit by a vehicle. Dispatch advised Officer Raymond Silvas Jr. of the call and Deputy Peter Silvas advised he would be out at the accident. Medics were paged and en route to the accident. The pedestrian was taken to Refugio Memorial Hospital to be treated and a crash report was made for the accident.

Public intoxication

A male subject was arrested on April 4 at 5:44 p.m. at the Relax Inn after being accused of abusing a female and a child.

The caller reported that she could hear the male and female arguing in the room and that there were loud noised coming from the room as if the male was physically assaulting the female and throwing her around.

Investigator Danny Madrigal went to the scene and didn’t find any signs of physical abuse. Neither party wanted to leave the room.

A second 911 call was made and the caller reported that the male subject was verbally abusing the female and the child. Officer Duqualis Farrow and Investigator Madrigal were dispatched.

Officer Farrow advised he took the subject into custody for public intoxication and he was taken to the Refugio County Jail.


A physical disturbance led to a DWI arrest on April 8 at 1:24 a.m.

A caller reported that she could hear people fighting in a vehicle outside of her residence.

Dispatch advised Deputies Peter Silvas and Ronald Ramirez. Another call was received by dispatch referring to the same vehicle reporting that it was traveling down Galia Street in Woodsboro.

Deputy Peter Silvas initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle. Sergeant Gary Wright was requested to run a test for intoxication and a wrecker was requested for the vehicle.

The subject is alleged to have hit a vehicle when he was fleeing the disturbance scene. Deputy Ronald Ramirez attempted to make contact with the vehicle owner, but was unable to do so. Pictures were taken of the vehicle that was suspected to be hit by the subject.

The subject’s vehicle was released to the wrecker and the subject was arrested for DWI.

Possession of marijuana

A male subject was arrested for possession of marijuana on April 9 at 4:25 p.m. Deputy Daniel Beltran went Fastbreak in Woodsboro where a canine unit was needed.

The canine unit arrived and the dog alerted on the UHAUL vehicle.

The truck was taken to the annex to be searched. The truck was impounded and taken to Milton’s.

The subject was escorted to drop his son off with his mother.

The subject was then taken back to the annex and arrested for the possession of marijuana, less than two ounces.

Stolen vehicle

Dispatch received a call on April 9 at 8:55 a.m. in reference to a stolen vehicle. The caller reported that his vehicle was stolen the night before and wrecked.

He also advised that he knew who had stolen his vehicle.

Deputy Danny Beltran was dispatched to find out more information from the caller.

He advised that the incident would be worked as a crash.

No further information was reported.
