Ray Arguijo Villarreal passed away on March 20, 2011, at his home with his loving family by his side. Ray was born on January 5, 1931, in Beeville, Texas, to the late Juan Villarreal and Francisca Arguijo Villarreal.

Ray was also preceded in death by his grandson, Rey E. Villarreal.

Ray is survived by his loving wife, Olga Gutierrez Villarreal of Beeville, Texas; three sons, Richard Villarreal Sr. (Lydia), Ray Villarreal Jr. (Sylvia) and Alberto Villarreal, all of Beeville, Texas; one sister, Julia Torres of Beeville, Texas; six grandchildren, Richard Villarreal Jr., Eddie Villarreal, Eric Villarreal, Delia Villarreal, Daniella Villarreal and Yvonne Villarreal; six great-grandchildren, Robert Schmidt, Jacob Schmidt, Aiden Schmidt, E.J. Villarreal, Trinity Daveigh Villarreal and Airick Zander Villarreal.

Ray served proudly with the United States Army during 1950 through 1953, in the Korean Conflict to defend this great freedom nation of ours. His most significant duty assignments were the BVTRY C, 52nd FA BN, ARLO 24, and he received the Army of occupation medal (Japan), Korean SVC Medal with two bronze SVC stars, and a UN SVC medal. He also worked for H.E.B. for 29 years as General Manager in general merchandising serving our community, six years with N.A.S. Chase Field and nine years with the Beeville Independent School District. Ray was one the original members of the 1947 Blue Jays baseball team and was a very kind, gentle, loving person that enjoyed spending quality time with his family.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Rev. Eduardo Garcia officiating. Burial followed at Beeville Memorial Park with full Military Honors.

Serving as pallbearers were Richard Villarreal Jr., Eddie Villarreal, Eric Villarreal, Albert Villarreal, Colton Pargmann and Gilbert Arguijo. Honorary Pallbearers were Yvonne Villarreal, Delia Villarreal and Daniella Villarreal.
