The sheriff’s department responded to 54 calls; the Refugio Police Department, 41; state troopers 12; medics, 25; Woodsboro marshal, three; animal control, 14; Refugio VFD, five; Woodsboro VFD, three.
Two subjects, a male and a female, were taken to Refugio County Jail on Feb. 9 at 2:48 p.m. along with a male juvenile after a contraband was located in their vehicle. DPS Narcotics was advised of the seizure and the currency was taken to the bank to be counted. Trooper Francisco Hosking escorted the subjects to the jail and a CPS caseworker followed to interview the parents.
A one-vehicle rollover accident was reported on March 10 at 7:22 p.m. The accident was on Hwy. 77 in the southbound lane, south of the country club. There were three people in the vehicle and none of them had life threatening injuries.
Possession of marijuana
Two subjects were in custody March 11 at 11:10 p.m. and taken to the Refugio County Jail for possession of marijuana. Deputy Daniel Beltran made the traffic stop and advised he was going to search the vehicle because of probable cause, the odor of marijuana. He found two one-gallon bags of marijuana in the vehicle.
A caller reported a disturbance on March 13 at 12:26 p.m., stating that some people were trying to fight with her boyfriend and there were possible weapons involved. Deputies Phillip Ruiz and Daniel Beltran along with Officer Bill Schaefer were advised of the disturbance. One of the subjects was located, but no charges were filed.
Arrest for contraband
A female subject was take to Refugio County Jail on March 9 at 5:19 p.m. after contraband was located on the subject. Officer Ray John Silvas initiated a traffic stop in the McDonald’s parking lot in Refugio and arrested the female subject.
