On Monday evening, Feb. 24, the Three Rivers Garden Club held their Feb. meeting at the Our Savior Lutheran Church. Many thanks goes to Host and Hostess, Joe and Jacqueline Coquat, for a delicious meal of quiche, salad and yummy desserts.

The main order of business was making plans for Garden Club’s Flower Show exhibit at the fair. We encourage all fair goers, young and old, to enter their plants and flowers so they may win a first, second, third, or best yet, a beautiful Rosette Ribbon for their efforts. Categories include the following:

Class I — Vegetables, Fruits, Farm Products

Class II — Fresh Arrangements

Class III — Potted Plants

Class IV — Hanging Baskets

Class V — Horticulture Specimens

Class VI — Dried Arrangements

Class VII — Creative Designs

Class VIII — Junior Entries.

Parents and school teachers are encouraged to enter youth entries, Class VIII, in Fresh Arrangements, Horticulture Specimens, Potted Plants, or Vegetables, Fruits and Farm Produce. Details and entry rules are listed in the LOC Fair handbook and the Progress.

All entries may be turned in to the exhibit building on Thursday, March 20, from 8 a.m. – noon. Name of exhibitor should be attached to an index card and fastened to each entry. Judging will begin at 1 p.m. Rosettes will be awarded for each class. The entire show must stay in the building until 3 p.m. Saturday and must be picked up no later than 4 p.m. Entries not claimed after 4 p.m. will be discarded.

The next Garden Club meeting will be held on Monday, March 24, 6 p.m., at the church. The program will be on controlling garden pests.
