THREE RIVERS – Clearly outlined mission statements. Excellent photographs. Great graphics and sharp video recordings, crime prevention tips, weather warnings and news alerts—not to mention room for citizen comments.

All in all, “3riverspd.com”—the Three Rivers Police Department’s newest website—is a new venue that promotes the same, never-ending, mission of public safety.

On the site, Three Rivers residents can sign up for cell phone and email alerts. Those wishing to one day wear the badge can even coordinate conversations with a recruiter. Concerned citizens can inquire about area sex offenders or even request extra patrols in a given area.

Three Rivers Police Chief Vance Roberts could not immediately be reached this week to discuss the new site, but a statement on the site by the PD clearly outlines the site’s benefits and focus.

“The Three Rivers Police Department has more than doubled its staff in the last few years,” according to the statement. “This is directly related to the growth the Eagle Ford Shale has brought. Stay tuned … More is on the way!”

Applying to the news alert system online brings a prompt and informative email response.

“”The community Information Service helps keep you and your family safe, informed, and connected to your community 24/7,” the email reads. “With emergency alerts, important advisories, community updates, and traffic information, you will receive up-to-date information impacting the areas near you by cell phone, e-mail and on the web. Spread the word with friends, family and neighbors! Help make your community a stronger, safer, and better place to live.”

The Progress will relay more information regarding the site as it becomes available.

Again, the website can be accessed at 3riverspd.com.
