Rosie Bednorz Copeland, 85, of George West, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013.

Mrs. Copeland was born to Demas and Justina Kowalek Bednorz in Mountain View on May 8, 1928. She married Charlie Reagan Copeland in George West on Dec. 28, 1948, and was an active member of St. George Catholic Church serving in the Altar Society and choir. She was the owner and operator of Rosie’s Treasures Antiques in George West and was a homemaker and helped her husband with the farming and ranching. She was a musician, playing in a local band. She played the guitar, fiddle, harmonica, and numerous other instruments and was a member of the Square Dance Club, and assisted in many charity events.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a granddaughter, Aletha Trbula; a grandson, Jesse Ray Copeland Jr.; six brothers; and six sisters.

Survivors include four children, Charlie R. (Mary) Copeland Jr. of Lockhart, Jackie (Michael) Trbula, Jesse “Jess” (Laura) Copeland and Dennis Copeland, all of George West; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation was held on Monday, Dec. 2, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel in George West. A rosary was recited there at 7 o’clock that evening.

The funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church with Monsignor Michael Howell officiating. Burial followed at St. George Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jeffrey Trbula, Kenneth Trbula, Blake Copeland, Brett Rhodes, Tommy Humphrey, Jeremy Garcia, Marvin Zimmerman and Jim Davis.

Honorary pallbearers were Leroy Dworaczyk, Bernard Bednorz, Raymond Bednorz, John Bednorz, Tim Cobb and John Wojtasczyk.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. George Catholic Cemetery.
