An ACME cement truck rolled over in Ray Point on Aug. 29 at about 8:10 a.m.

The truck was heading south on Farm Road 1358 with a load of wet cement when he rolled at the turn near mile marker 518. The driver pulled himself out of the cab of the truck, which was twisted and lying on its side.

Acadian EMS was the first to arrive; the driver was later flown to Christus Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi by HALO-Flight.

Johnny Calaway of Live Oak County Sheriff’s Department said the driver was in critical but stable condition. Calaway also said it looked like the truck blew out a tire during the turn.
