Texas High School Coaches Association announces Academic All-State football, volleyball and cross-country teams

The Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) and the United States Marine Corp proudly announce the THSCA Academic All-State Football, Volleyball and Cross-Country teams for 2012-13. The teams are selected by a point system that awards points for GPA, class rank and SAT or ACT score. The student/athletes are then placed on teams according to the number of points they have earned.

The Elite team represents the highest point total that can be achieved. Criteria required to be nominated is 1) must be a senior with an overall GPA of 92 or above, including grades 9-12 and the first six weeks of grade 12; 2) Be a member of the team in good standing at the time of nomination and 3) Be of good moral character.

George West Longhorn football players selected are Lukas Barcak, 2A-1, first team; Joseph Feist, 2A-1, second team; Brady Jones, 2A-1, first team; Andrew Katzfey, 2A-1, first team and Quest Newberry, 2A-1, second team.

Three Rivers Bulldog football players listed are Kalli Escamilla, 2A-2, Honorable Mention; Charlie Johnston, 2A-2, Honorable Mention; Aaron Meineke, 2A-2, Honorable Mention.
