The baseball and softball regular season of the Beeville Little League came to a close on Monday night.

Closing ceremonies were held at the BLL complex and the all-star teams for the various divisions were announced.

Prior to the commencement of the ceremonies, a moment of silence was observed for beloved, long- time coach and Beeville Little League supporter Ubaldo (Blackie) Adamez, who passed away last week.

“It was a very good year for the Beeville Little League. All but one division was highly competitive and the championships weren’t decided until the very last game in three of the divisions,” said league president Norris Jackson.

Trophies were presented to all of the T-Ball players and the coach- pitch players. All other players received certificates of participation. First and second place teams in each division also received individual trophies.

The presentation of the all-star teams then took center stage along with the announcement of the first tournament game schedules for each division.

The Minor softball girls will play their first game in Rockport on June 29 at 6 p.m. against Sinton. The Minor boys Orange team will play in Three Rivers on July 2 at 6 p.m. against the host Three Rivers club. The Minor boys White team will begin their postseason on June 29 in Three Rivers against George West at 8 p.m.

The 11-year-old baseball all-stars won’t play until July 4 at 5 p.m. against a team yet to be determined as the Beeville boys drew a first-round bye in the Orange Grove tournament.

The Major girls will be in Woodsboro with their opening game set for June 30 at 6 p.m. against Taft. The Major boys will travel to Refugio for their first tournament action. The boys will meet Sinton on June 29 at 8 p.m.

The Junior girls will begin their playoff drive in Orange Grove on July 1 at 6 p.m. also against Sinton. The Junior boys will have a first-round bye but will get on the field on July 2 at 8 p.m. in Odem against a team yet to be determined.
