He was born in Beeville on May 24, 1939, to Juan and Elvira (Vasquez) Reyes. Mr. Reyes was retired from the city of Corpus Christi water department after 28 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents and and grandmother, Sofa Mcguiness.
Mr. Reyes is survived by his wife, Maria V. Reyes; two sons, Israel (Cindy) Reyes Jr. and Ismael Reyes (Deanna Webb); six grandchildren, Justin Webb, Ashley, Israel III, Anthony, Bonnee, and Brittney; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Carmen Ball of Metairie, La., Lucille, Cris, Maria Elena and Lupe; a brother, Juan Reyes of La Plaza, La., and Joe from Victoria.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) at 5 p.m. at Guardian Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. that evening.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Rose Hill memorial park.
