Local judging teams win big at Houston Livestock Show

The Refugio County 4-H Livestock Judging Teams placed 2nd out of 110 teams at the Houston Livestock Show on Wednesday, March 17. Team members are  (first row) Dalton Klare, Kodye Neel, Morgan Klaevemann and HC Neel IV (back row) and Coach Clay Neel.

The Refugio County 4-H Livestock Judging Teams ranked high in the competition at the Houston Livestock Show on Wednesday, March 17.

A total of 432 junior individuals made up 110 junior teams that competed.

Of the 110 teams, the county team won second place.

The team consists of HC Neel IV, Dalton Klare, Kodye Neel and Morgan Klaevemann.

Placing 28th in the competition was the team of Taylor Nixon, Madalynn Nixon, Derek Ressmann and K’Cee Ponce.

HC placed fifth in the individual contest while Kodye placed ninth. Ryan Speis competed as an individual at the contest.

“These young people represented Refugio County exceptionally well and we are very proud of their hard work and achievements,” said Amy Neel, coach.
