She was born on June 5, 1918, in Beeville to Jose and Maria (Chavarria) Tapia. She married Agapito Peña and was a homemaker and member of St. James Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Maria Tapia; her husband, Agapito Peña; three brothers, Jose Tapia, Inocencio Tapia and Jesus Tapia; and a grandson, Ralph Garcia.
Survivors include five children, Eva (Panteleon) Garcia, Maria (C.W.) Todd, Irene (Phil) Ham and Jose M. (Janie) Peña, all of Beeville, and Lucio (Colleen) Peña of Rosenberg; two sisters, Alvina Elizalde of Broaddus and Anestacia Zapata of Beeville; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Monday from 3 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home A rosary was recited there at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 o’clock this morning (Wednesday) at St. James Catholic Church. Burial followed at Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Joe Louis Peña, Jose M. Peña Jr., Eric Subia, Carlos Garcia, David Garcia and Stephen Peña.
Honorary pallbearers were Michael Rodriguez, Jonathan Peña and the Tapia family.
