Bellows, Hessong take first at District CX Debate

Three Rivers High School hosted the District 31-AA cross-examination debate tournament on Thursday, Feb. 4 at the Three Rivers First Baptist Church.

Students from Natalia, George West, Jourdanton, and Three Rivers competed in the tournament. Three Rivers High School took first through third places at the meet.

Placing first and qualifying for state competition were the team of Bradley Bellows and Jesi Hessong. Placing second and also qualifying for the state tournament were the team of Hayden Kopplin and Jacob Moran. Placing third and serving as alternates to the state meet were the team of Maegan Haag and Darcy Orsak.

The UIL State CX Debate Tournament will be held March 15-16 at the University of Texas in Austin. The Three Rivers debate team is coached by TRHS Principal Kenneth Rohrbach.
