Kennedy earns USAF pilot wings

Second Lt. Ryan Kennedy, son of Randy and Julie Maupin of Beeville, graduated from the United States Air Force Pilot Training in Columbus, Miss., on Friday, Sept. 4. Ryan and his wife, Julia, have been stationed in Columbus for the past year while training at the Air Force base.

Ryan graduated third in his class and received the Air Force Association Award and the Military Training Award. Both awards were presented to the graduate whose leadership, personality, conduct and bearing had the greatest influence on the class. He will now go on and receive further flight training in order to fly the C-130H Hercules for the Air National Guard.

Kennedy is a 2001 graduate of A.C. Jones High School and 2006 graduate of Southern Methodist University where he lettered four years in football and played tight end for the Mustangs.
