The driver, reportedly a 41-year-old female, was to be taken to an area hospital by helicopter and an unidentified passenger in the front seat was dead at the scene, according to Bee County Sheriff’s Office Commander Karl Brune.
Justice of the Peace Joe Lyvers arrived at the scene to pronounce the passenger dead.
Highway Patrol Trooper Santiago Montez was investigating the wreck with the assistance of Troopers Billy Mora and Carlos Martinez.
Montez was collecting information at press time but said more information would be available Friday morning.
The wreck occurred when a southbound Ford SUV with two people inside apparently left the road on the west side, overcorrected and rolled repeatedly before coming to a stop, upright, on the east side of the highway.
