Senior Rachel Dockery competed in prose interpretation at the state level for the third consecutive year. Last year, Dockery placed sixth in the state. This year, however, she was able to capture second place in the state and bring home the silver medal. Dockery is coached by TRHS Principal Kenneth Rohrbach.
Bo East, a senior, competed at the state meet in computer applications and placed 8th in the state. He is coached by Mr. Billy Edgerton. Shelly Smith, also a senior, competed at the state meet in poetry interpretation. She is coached by Mr. Jimmy Conn. Sophomore Saul Cruces competed in calculator applications. He is also coached by Conn.
Also making the trip to state were Krissy Arnst and Taylor Noble. Arnst was the state alternate in mathematics and Noble was the state alternate in Lincoln-Douglas debate. “This has been a tremendous year for the UIL program at TRHS,” stated Rohrbach.
“The UIL team captured its fifth consecutive district championship and finished second overall in the region, which is the highest that the school has ever placed at regional UIL competition. Congratulations to all of the UIL students and coaches,” Rohrbach said.
