ANDER – St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Ander has received three grants from Thrivent Financial to support the congregation’s outreach to the community.

Women of the Evan-gelical Lutheran Church in America at St. Peter’s received a $300 grant to purchase quilt batting. Quilts are made at St. Peter’s for donation to Lutheran World Relief.

Quilts given through Lutheran World Relief can be used as bed covers, as a baby carrier, as a market display spread on the ground and piled with vegetables, as a sack for transporting those goods to market, as a sunshade and as a shawl.

A $1,000 grant matched gifts given by St. Peter’s members and friends in April and May that were designated for local benevolence. St. Peter’s shares local benevolence gifts with members of the community who are in need.

St. Peter’s hosted a Thrivent workshop entitled “Identity Theft: What You Need to Know” on July 20. The workshop, which was supported by a $900 grant from Thrivent, helped participants understand how identity theft can occur, get tips to help them protect themselves, and know what steps to take if they should become a victim of identity theft.
