SAN ANTONIO – A Beeville native now attending school in San Antonio was arrested on campus Aug. 12 on two counts of attempted second degree murder.

The Ouachita Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana, who is handing the investigation, says that Matthew Edward Alexander, 29, also was arrested on charges of arson and aggravated arson.

The sheriff’s office, in a news release, says that this stems from an arson investigation involving a western Ouachita Parish location.

According to KNOE in Monroe, La., Alexander was set to begin his second year of law school at St. Mary’s University.

According to area news reports, Alexander was arrested without incident outside a classroom and booked into the Bexar County Jail.

Alexander is expected to be transferred back to Louisiana to face charges.
