Mr. Hons was born Jan. 23, 1922, in Hobson to Joseph Hons and Pauline Ulrich Hons. He was a farmer and maintenance mechanic and loved playing the violin. He was also a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hobson and a member of the KJT. He married Dorothy Malik on Sept. 25, 1945, in Hobson.
Survivors include daughters, Elaine (Al) Kolodziej of Floresville, Nancy (Kenneth) Walpole of George West and Cathy Green of Hobson; sons, Allen (Dennise) Hons of Kenedy, David (Judith) Hons, Kirby (Judy) Hons, Mark (Stella) Hons, Ralph Hons and Robert (Terry) Hons, all of Hobson; grandchildren, Robert Paul, Louis, Joseph, Brian, Shayne, Matthew, John, James, Shannon, Cheyenne, William, Robert and Mark Anthony Hons, Karl and Keith Kolodziej, Kristen Weaver, Tammy Kroll, Sara Jansky, Kenneth Walpole Jr., Sheldon Walpole, Melissa Ramirez, Colt, Jesse and Amy Green; 41 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; grandsons, Nicholas and Jeremy Hons; a great-granddaughter; and brothers, Alvin and Edward Hons.
Visitation was held at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at Rhodes Funeral Home in Karnes City with a rosary recited at 7 o’clock that evening followed by a memorial service.
The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City. Interment followed in the Hobson Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Karl Kolodziej, Robert Paul Hons, Louis S. Hons, Sheldon Walpole, Shayne Hons, Matthew Hons, John Hons, Jesse Green and William Hons.
Arrangements were entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Home.
