Call says, “That girl ought to have stayed in Lonesome Dove.”

“If you was a young girl, with life before you, would you want to settle in Lonesome Dove?” Augustus asked. “Maggie done it, and look how long she lasted.”

“She might have died any place,” Call said. “I’ll die some place, and so will you… it might not be no better place than Lonesome Dove.”

“It ain’t dying I’m talking about,” Augustus said. “It’s living. I doubt it matters where you die, but it matters where you live” (Larry McMurty, Lonesome Dove).

A favorite movie and novel, Call and Augustus speak pearls of wisdom. It does matter where you live. When we live within Christ we are transformed into a new creation. What was, is no longer. We are new. It does matter where we live. Let us live in Christ.

You are welcome to worship at United Methodist Church, 11 A.M. Our address is 201 N Esplanade, Karnes City.
