BEEVILLE – The planned expansion of the Joe Barnhart Bee County Library won’t be going through because of the increase in cost.

“The Joe Barnhart Foundation has announced that the library learning center will not be built on the lot at Corpus Christi and Washington (streets),” said Tracy Saucier, director at the Beeville Art Museum. “Increased costs over the original estimated cost are such that it is not prudent.

“The foundation plans to look for an alternate location.

“Improvements to the parking lot on Corpus Christi and Washington will be made for the library use.”

While there won’t be a new building, there are still plenty of things going on at both the art museum and the library though.

This Saturday, Dinosaur George will be back at the library talking to youngsters, and even adults, about everything prehistoric. He arrives at 2 p.m.

“Dinosaur George” Blasing is a self-taught paleontologist and animal behaviorist with more than 35 years of study and research. Blasing is a public speaker, writer and television personality who has performed live to more than 3 million people and has lectured in more than 3,000 museums, schools and public events.
