BEEVILLE – Bee County’s unemployment rate in June rose to 6 percent, up from May’s 5.3 percent. But, the June figure still is lower than last year’s June rating of 7.2 percent.
Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend, which compiles the monthly figures, says that rates for May, June and July tend to be higher than other months.
It reports that last month, Bee County’s workforce was 13,504, of which 12,688 were employed; 816 were unemployed.
The Bee County June rate of 6 percent is higher than the state’s rate of 5.3 percent but lower than the national rate of 6.3 percent.
Unemployment rates in Bee, Live Oak, McMullen, Refugio and San Patricio counties all were higher than the May figure.
San Patricio County’s rate for June was 6.8 percent; Refugio County’s was 3.5 percent, Live Oak County’s was 3.3 percent, and McMullen’s June rate was 1.8 percent.
