VICTORIA – Goliad High School graduate Stacy Michelle Campbell will be joining the University of Houston-Victoria softball team after committing to the program.

Campbell initially signed to play at Northwood following her graduation from GHS in 2013. She sat out last season with the Knights. After Northwood’s athletic program was discontinued following the 2013-14 school year, Campbell found an opportunity to continue her career in her own backyard.

Campbell was a four-year starter for the Tigerettes. She played first base and the outfield and was a key figure in the circle for the program.

Earning first-team all-district honors as a junior and a senior, she finished her career at Goliad playing in the third annual Crossroads Senior All-Star Game.

She finished her high school career with a 38-33 record in the circle with 286 strikeouts in 387 innings. She compiled a .416 batting average with 80 RBI, 22 doubles, five triples, a home run and 44 stolen bases.

Campbell is one of 12 players UHV softball coach Lindsey Ortiz has signed for the 2015 season.

The Jaguars finished the 2014 season ranked No. 21 in the NAIA with a 33-15 record and their third straight trip to the NAIA National Championships.
