REFUGIO – Ella Mae Logan Nixon, 88, died Saturday, July 19, 2014.

Mrs. Nixon was born Feb. 26, 1926, in Gonzales to Ernest “Boots” and Margarita “Maggie” Ramzinski Logan.

Ella Mae graduated from Gonzales High School in 1943.

She married Henry Eugene “Gene” Nixon of Luling on Aug. 9, 1944.

Survivors include daughters, Barbara Annette Nixon Kelley of Refugio, Pamela Gail Nixon Damuth of New Braunfels; son, Robert Eugene “Bubba” Nixon (Lynette) of Refugio; sister, Jennie Vee Logan Lyman (Conde) of Luling; brothers, Robert Lee Logan (Emilie) of Gonzales, Jimmy Logan (Kay) of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Johnnie Logan of Georgetown; nine grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Martha Logan Boehm and Margie Logan; and brothers, Winston “Bubba” Logan, Lt. Lynwood “Lynie” Logan (U.S. Army Air Corps) and Thomas Logan.

Visitation was held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home in Gonzales.

A graveside service followed at 11 a.m. at the Woodmen of the World Cemetery in Gonzales.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Jeffrey Emmons, Gregory Emmons, Michael Kelley, Kyle Kelley, Bradley Emmons and Jamie Nixon; and great-grandsons, Jack Kelley, Paul Pless, Zakary Piwetz and Travis Kelley.

Honorary pallbearers included Allen Lyman, Stephan Lyman, Robert “Bobby” Logan and James “Bubba” Boehm.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Texas, American Heart Association, First Baptist Church Refugio or the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home 906 St. Paul in Gonzales.
