BEEVILLE – The population of Normanna is expected to expand greatly by noon on Saturday, July 26.

That is the day the Normanna Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting its fundraising barbecue, cake auction and big gun raffle.

Fire Chief Sam McCoy said the volunteers will begin serving up barbecue plates to all comers.

A plate for an adult will be $5 and $3 for kids under 10. Plates will be piled up with beef, sausage and all the good stuff that goes along with that.

Although the volunteers will start serving up the barbecue at noon, a number of other events are planned for later with a cake auction and drawings for a number of guns.

The firefighters also will have a moon bounce and water slide set up for the kids.

Raffle tickets for a chance to win one of eight different fire arms will also be on sale at $20 each. Anyone who buys five raffle tickets will receive a sixth one free.
