Councilman Buddy Zavesky announced his resignation at Tuesday night's meeting and councilman Lionel Garcia resigned a day later. According to City Secretary Pam Long, city council has eight days to appoint a replacement for each position or an election would be required to fill the seats.
"Hopefully, council will appoint someone," Machacek said.
City Administrator Larry Zermeno also announced his resignation at Tuesday night's meeting, claiming the mayor and new city council members were intent on seizing operational control from him.
"It's a little disheartening that we couldn't work together," Machacek said. "I would have liked to have had everyone working together for the betterment of Goliad. I wish it didn't happen, but it did and we just have to deal with it."
