Summertime at the library is an awesome time! Last week we learned about animal tracks and made plaster molds of the tracks (thanks, Ranger Jaure and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department!) and we got to shoot off rockets in the parking lot in the name of science!
We have some amazing readers in this year's program, and they're reading for some great prizes donated by Albiar's Snowcone Place, The Magik Theatre in San Antonio, The Texas State Aquarium, and the San Antonio Zoo.
On Monday we welcomed Miss Runge 2014, Rami Flores, and her court. They read stories for the kids and helped us out as we did even more experiments, this time with ice (both the regular and the dry). We talked about insulation, super-cooled some water and sodas, made spoons sing, made our own fire extinguishers, and created smoke bubbles.
This Thursday at 1:30 we welcome Bob Hansler. Mr. Hansler will be bringing along some animal friends as he tells us about the animals native to this area, how we can protect them, and why that's important. Get here early for good seats!
