GOLIAD COUNTY – The driver of a truck hauling a tanker trailer was transported to Victoria's DeTar Hospital after he was involved in a one-vehicle crash during the early morning hours Friday near the intersection of U.S. Highway 183 and State Highway 119.

Sherman L. Thompson, 49, complained of back and neck pain and sustained a gash to his head, according to a Goliad County Sheriff's Office report. Goliad EMS and Goliad Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the scene at 3:41 a.m. The vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a tree.

The tanker separated from the cab, forcing partial closure of U.S. Highway 183 until 8:25 a.m.

There was no spill from the tanker. The truck was registered to Rush Truck Leasing out of New Braunfels. The tanker trailer was registered to Suncoast Resources out of Houston.
