Mrs. Donahue was born in San Antonio on June 11, 1921, and was raised on a farm outside Normanna where her family made a living raising crops and livestock. She graduated from high school in Normanna and attended Our Lady of the Lake College in San Antonio.
She married MSGT John M. Donahue on March 26, 1949, and lived on various U.S. air bases in Texas and Morocco. She was a devout Catholic and very active in St. Matthew’s Catholic Church where she was a parishioner for many years. As a young woman, she had worked at a bank in Beeville after college, and later in life she worked in accounting for various companies and in Civil Service at Fort Sam Houston. After retiring, she helped many people with their taxes as a volunteer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Vitus and Jane “Jennie” Strauch; her brothers, Anthony, Charles and Leo Strauch; her husband, John M. Donahue; and her daughter, Kathleen Donahue.
Survivors include her children, John Michael, Nelle Cecilia, Thomas Patrick and Kevin Leo; her grandchildren, Paul J.M. Angrisano, John Patrick Donahue and Doyle Thomas Donahue; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass was celebrated on Saturday, June 14, at 3 p.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church in San Antonio. All were invited to attend.
