SKIDMORE – A return trip to the Texas High School Rodeo Association State Finals is in store for Skidmore-Tynan Bobcat Brandon Loya Jr.

Sophomore Loya made the trip as a freshman bull rider last year and was seeded fifth in the region and wound up finishing 11th overall in state out of 50 young bull riders. The finals this year will be held on June 8 in Abilene, and Loya will be going into the competition as the champion bull rider of Region VIII.

There are a total of 10 regions within Texas, and Loya believes he has a good shot of becoming a state champion and wearing the biggest buckle of his early career as a bull rider.

Loya also competes in the Texas Youth Rodeo Association where he placed second last year in bull riding. He will be attending the TYRA finals later in July this summer.

“I enjoy the sport of rodeo, and I love bull riding. I hope to attend a rodeo college, and I hope to continue to participate in the sport of rodeo,” he said.

Contact Brandon at 361-542-9641 if you wish to assist him as a sponsor in his quest to become the state champion bull rider.
