GOLIAD – Superintendent Emilio Vargas said Goliad ISD has narrowed its list of candidates for the Goliad High School principal position to three finalists.

“We are into the second round,” Vargas said. “We have narrowed it down to three that we are calling back for second interviews.”

Vargas said he expected to conduct the interviews of the three finalists Friday.

“I would like to present a name to the board in May,” Vargas said. “We would like to have an individual in place as soon as we can, hopefully by mid-May, so they cane be aware of our processes and help us finish out the year.”

Celeste Rodriguez is serving as interim principal at GHS.

The position became open when Liz Harris became Goliad ISD’s federal/special programs director in January.
