Early voting continues through this week

GOLIAD – A total of 268 Goliad County residents had taken advantage of early voting as of Saturday.

After polls closed Saturday for the weekend, 143 Republicans had cast their ballots early while 125 Democrats had voted early for the March 4 primary elections.

Early voting at the Courthouse Annex located at 329 W. Franklin St. in Goliad continued Monday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be held Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The contested county races in the Republican primary are for county judge between incumbent David Bowman and Pat Calhoun, and for Precinct 4 county commissioner between Jimmy Schulze, W.A. Wimberly Jr. and David Bruns.

The contested county race in the Democratic primary is between incumbent Alonzo Morales and Lionel Garcia for the Precinct 2 county commissioner position.
