City council wants more time to review financial audit report

GOLIAD – City council delayed approving the financial audit for 2013 presented by the auditing firm of Roloff, Hnatek & Co., LLP, during its Feb. 4 meeting.

Councilwoman Liz Holsey moved to table acceptance of of the audit and councilman Alfred Perez seconded the motion. The council voted 4-0 to spend more time reviewing the audit.

In other business, council voted 4-0 to conduct elections jointly with the Goliad ISD through a joint election agreement and unanimously approved a proclamation designating Feb. 11 as “2-1-1 Day” in Goliad.

Council also unanimously authorized City Administrator Larry Zermeno to renew the city’s 39-month contract with TXU Energy and unanimously approved doing away with a grandfather clause that prevents current public works employees from being required to obtain wastewater licenses.

Mayor Jay Harvey and councilman Ed Carter were absent from the meeting.
